Hess Lake

I headed from Afterglow through the U.P. and over the Mackinac Bridge down to our friends cabin, north of Grand Rapids, MI. Although I wasn't sure how an 8 hour car ride with the girls by myself would be, I was really looking forward to seeing a part of the country I had never seen before. Although it turned into 11 1/2 hours with stops it was a really great day and a beautiful drive. The girls did better than I could have hoped and it helped that we were able to make some nice stops both at a park for lunch and then at the beach in the afternoon before we headed over the bridge. I definitely want to go up there again and would love to go camping near the beach someday.

Our beach stop, you could just park your car right along the side of the road and walk down the small dunes to the beach.

A beautiful view of the bridge.

Driving with Kevin

Very serious.

We had such a great time hanging out with friends and seeing people we don't get to see very often (*cough, McKernans, cough*). Thanks again Kevin and Alison!
