Afterglow 2009...Part 1

We went to Afterglow in Phelps, WI over 4th of July. Always a great time although we missed having Cam with us this year as he had to work. I've been going there since I was 1 and it has been so much fun to start reliving so many memories through Gwen and Sonja.

Breakfast club. Named by my Dad and Uncle Scott when we were little. We eat breakfast by the lake every morning. The earliest group always consisted of my dad, uncle, Sonja and I. Its a great way to start the day, its nice and cool and the lake is so still and beautiful.

Thanks for the flower crown Aunt Greta!

The Party Island. Gwen was a regular on the party island and even Sonja loved it. I would hold her ankles (hold your Michael Jackson balcony comments please) and she just had a grand old time leaning over and splashing in the water through the hole in the middle.

Rowing with Katie

On the dock

Loving a little too much

I have seen this hammock over the years and we always played in it when we were little but I never knew until this year that it was made by my parents for my aunt and uncle as a wedding gift over 30 years ago. My mom crocheted the main part and my dad made the wooden frame that holds it together. Who knew you could make a hammock!

A snake eating a toad! So cool. We didn't get to see the toad actually go down because the snake slithered into the bushes. A pretty big toad for such a skinny little snake!

Fishing with Grandpa.

First catch of many. As soon as she caught it, she wanted to call Cam to tell him about it.

A mommy-daughter boat ride. Gwen attempted to row.

Lily pads! The cove across the lake was filled with them. Gwen loved to play with them and pretend they were bandaids and all sorts of things. She also loved how slimey and gooey they were underneath.

Breakfast club one morning. We discovered the "Afterglow playpen" half-way through the week. Unfortunately, we were about a week and a half too late as Sonja had started to crawl right before we left so she had no problem climbing out :) At least she could sit in there for a little while and not eat the grass.

Look for Part 2 soon.

The Afterglow playpen will be perfect for me (well my baby) next year!
